NRMCA calls for Safety, Environmental Excellence Award entries

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association is accepting through month’s end nominations for its Annual Safety Award program, which acknowledges safe work practices’ significant contribution to the growth and success of a producer or the industry as a whole. With support from the Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau, the NRMCA Annual Safety Award is presented to an industry individual or company whose actions represent the very highest in the advancement of safety in ready mixed production and delivery.

The award can be presented to an individual whose single action or long-time commitment to safety and health exemplifies superior performance. One candidate, for example, could be a mixer truck driver whose actions were lifesaving. Other examples could include plant or safety managers and company officials who have outstanding, sustained dedication to safety and health in the industry. Other examples would be an individual’s involvement community safety activities.

Criteria for selection of the individual or company may include evidence of the following: Reduction of accidents/incidents; demonstration of leadership in safety Identification, evaluation and control of hazards; development of safety-conscious policies and procedures; active promotion of safety in the workplace; innovation and enthusiasm in marketing safety; collaborative and proactive work toward improving safety; placing a high personal value on safety; and, mentoring of others in safe operating practices.

Nominations entail a detailed explanation, addressing the above criteria, for why the individual or company should be considered for the award. Submissions should include necessary supporting documents, a high-resolution image of an individual nominee or a company logo file. Nominations can be submitted to NRMCA Executive Vice President, Compliance and Operations Gary Mullings, 703/706-4861; [email protected].

ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE

The NRMCA Commitment to Environmental Excellence Awards competition offers producers national recognition for outstanding contributions to protecting the environment and maintaining sound management practice in their operations. It salutes companies that have not only met, but surpassed governmental compliance measures and demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through plant and staff investment. Any NRMCA member producing ready mixed concrete from a fixed plant location in the U.S., its territories or Canada is eligible to enter. Awards will be determined upon individual plant merits. Winning plants and their owners will be honored during NRMCA’s ConcreteWorks Conference this fall in Aurora, Colo. The plants will also be featured in a 2022 edition of the NRMCA Concrete InFocus magazine and November issue of Concrete Products.
